Richard C. Grigalauski Obituary
"Richard C. Grigalauski, 81, of Rockford passed away Feb. 7, 2010 in his home. Born June 9, 1928 in Rockford, the son of Helen A. and Joseph Sr. Grigalauski. Richard graduated from West Rockford Senior High School June 1946, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force the following month. He was in charge of the Crash Rescue Station at Clark Field, Luzon, Philippines from August 1947 to June 1949. Honorably discharged as Sergeant in July 1949, he worked as a machinist and salesman for 1 year before entering the University of Illinois where he earned his B.S. Degree in Accounting in 1954. After college Richard joined Shur-Hold Tool Company as a partner, and for many years owned the family business with his father and founder Joseph Sr. and brother Joseph John. He retired in 1990 after selling the family business. Richard was known for his green thumb. He was most happy outdoors working in his garden, fishing, hunting and maintaining his property. He was a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, the Rockford Lithuanian Club and St. Anthony parish. Richard is lovingly survived by his wife of 57 years, Eileen; children Deborah (David) Kennedy of Rockford, Karen (Steven) Huser of Delafield, WI, and Denise (Jeff) Huff of Prospect Heights. Proud grandfather of Aaron (Jimmie) and Hannah Kennedy; Travis, Timothy and Trevor Huser; and Joshua, Evan and Jarrett Huff; also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents; and brother, Joseph John."
