Biography

Angelo A. Vitale, 93, passed away in his home comforted by his adoring family on Sun. February 7, 2010. He was born March 13, 1916, son of Maria and Bortolo Vitale. Preceded in death by his two sisters Catherine (Ryan) and Angelica (Guglielmi) and two brothers, Leno and John. On October 22, 1939 he married Edythe T. Incelli his loving wife of 70 years. Together they raised three devoted children – Thomas, married to Jane Jewell, Mary Ellen married to Carl Ziltz and Jimmy married to Angela Farrar. He was a grandfather to Riva, Gabriel and Ava Bella. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in Naples, Italy. He worked at Illinois National Bank and Trust Co. as personal assistant to Mr. Eugene Abegg and later at Illinois Wholesale Liquor Co. He retired in 1976 to enjoy the pastimes he loved, Golf course record holder and Club Member for 54 years at Mauh Nah Tee See Country Club, Fishing – catching a 36” Muskie at age 91, Mushroom foraging in the fall, Wild Dandelion picking in the countryside, and tomato gardening in his backyard. Throughout his life he was recognized for his engaging and courteous personality, warm kindness and dimpled smile. Angelo’s gentle manner will be missed very much by his family. Services will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson St. on Friday, February 12th at 10:00 AM. Visitation proceeding at 8:30 AM in the church. Officiating will be the Most Reverend Thomas G. Doran – Bishop of Rockford. Arrangements are with Gasparini & Oliveri Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 707 Marchesano Dr.
