Life Legacy

Olga Burroughs Callea

Olga was a beautiful, soft spoken, prim and proper English lady with a heart of gold.
Sixty-eight years ago, Olga met her soul mate, Bennie, at one of the socials for service men in Calcutta, India. He was the first guy to ask her to dance, and from then on the only guy on her dance card.
After the “I do”s, the couple settled in Rockford, Illinois, raised and educated two daughters, Karin and Kris.
Their next venture was starting their own business where Olga worked side by side with Bennie as the original owner-operators of "Bennie's Cleaners" from 1947 to 1982. After retirement, they enjoyed visiting Karin and her husband, Jim on the east coast, Kris on the west coast in sunny La Jolla CA , and her brothers Pat, Bill and Mike and their families in Scotland, England and Canada.
Olga was a perfectionist at anything she set out to do. She loved to sing, dance and play the piano. She showed her creativity in sewing, ceramics and crafts. She also enjoyed gardening.
We were so lucky to have had Olga as part of our lives: wife, mom, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She was the kind of person, that if you are really lucky, you come across once in a lifetime.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who had a part in Olga's life throughout the years and especially during her recent illness.
One of Olga's true passions were dogs. As a child, she would bring home every stray dog she came across. She would be very thankful if you chose to donate to any of the non-profit animal organizations that help with rescue and overpopulation.
