Evelyn A. D'Angelo
June 26, 1922 - June 3, 2013

Biography

Evelyn A. D'Angelo, loving mother, grandmother, and companion, passed away Monday, June 3 2013 at the age of 90. Born June 26, 1922, in Rockford, to Anacletto and Amelia (Cuppini) Reali, Evelyn was employed at Testors Paint, served as a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and was a lively resident of Spring Ridge Senior Living Center. In 1946, Evelyn married Rocco D'Angelo and raised two loyal. loving, and successful sons- John and Luke. Evelyn will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor and for her ability to light up any room with her smile and her words. Her selflessness, her thoughtfulness, and her strength served and will continue to serve as inspiration to all whom she touched. She will be best remembered for her sugo, for the beautiful blankets she made, for her love of taking and showing family pictures, and for never letting anyone leave her house hungry, or without socks. If you were fortunate to have known Evelyn, you likely smile recalling her spirit, knowing she was always thinking of you, of course, thinking how great she looked for her age. She is predeceased by her son, John (1985) and husband, Rocco (2001). Survivors include her son Luke (Mary Jane) and daughter-in-law Krysha (Larry) Sorce. Grandchildren Allison (Marvin) Simms, Melissa (Rich) Turaski, April (Tim) Foglesonger, and Kelly D'Angelo, of whom she was always so proud. Evelyn also watches over several great-grandchildren and dear friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to the support and love her friends have always given her, as well as to the outstanding care she was provided by the OSF Intensive Care Unit nursing staff. Evelyn was a truly beautiful person inside and out and will undoubtedly be missed by the friends and family whom she loved and cared for so dearly. She is not gone, however, because her spirit lives on in each and every one of those she knew, loved, and of course, made sugo or a blanket for.
